Packing for Australia- I'm leaving tomorrow!

I'm getting ready to go to the land Oz (That's Australia-- Aus-- get it?) Anyway, I'm off tomorrow to the airport at 3pm. First I fly for two hours to San Francisco, California at 5:15 pm, and then at 10:15 pm, I'll get on board my 14 hour flight to Sydney. After four hours in Sydney, I'll get on a two hour flight to go to Brisbane! Whew! Then I'll get to give a big giant hug to my friend Steph who will be picking me up. So what am I doing to get ready?

I have my passport all ready, and I think today I'm going to make Bear a little passport so that he doesn't feel left out. I'll let you know how that goes. I wouldn't want him to get turned away from entering the country. That would be awful. In addition to the passport, I also had to get a visa. A visa is like a permission slip so that I can get into the country. When I got my Australian visa on Wednesday, I was told that I could stay in the country for three months. I could, but I won't. I'll come back to Seattle on December 27th and start getting ready for my bicycle trip.

Today I made a music mix to take with me so that I have lots to listen to while I'm on the plane. I also have some books to listen to as well. I have some actual books, but I learned how to knit five days ago and I tell you, dear reader, it is hard to knit and read at the same time. I'm hoping that I will master the art of doing both things at the same time.

In about an hour I'm going to pack. Snow is falling right now in Seattle (CRAZY!) and I'm going to be packing shorts and t-shirts- ha! What else am I taking? Some food for the airplane, lots of yarn to knit with, sunblock, a hat, my passport, music to listen to, my wallet, and running shoes. Of course I'll be taking Bear too, but I'll wait until the last minute to pack him. No reason for Bear to be smushed too badly. I will try to keep my bag on the light side so that I can carry it with me on board.

Write comments to me and Bear on this blog if you wish. Jackie from Ms. Thomas' class in Mukilteo wrote me a great message last week-- thanks Jackie! I wrote back on the comments page.

Cheers everyone!

P.S. Write a comment if you can figure out exactly when I'm getting to Brisbane. Hint: Brisbane is 18 hours ahead of Seattle.

Hello!
While we in Seattle will miss you, soak up some of those Oz rays. and if you do learn to knit and read at the same time, you can give lessons. I am all about movies and knitting.
Watch out for scary things, and have a blast. I can't wait to see the photos and hear the stories.
Love, c
